Ms. Poonam Muttreja, Population Foundation of India

Poonam Muttreja, Executive Director, Population Foundation of India-PFI, has over 35 years of experience in promoting women’s health – reproductive and sexual rights, rural livelihoods, public advocacy, behaviour change communication. She co-conceived and promoted the transmedia initiative, Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon – I, A Woman, Can Achieve Anything. Before joining PFI, she served as Country Director of McArthur Foundation in India. She serves on the board of several non-governmental organisations, and co-founded Society for Rural Urban & Tribal Initiative (SRUTI), DASTKAR, and Ashoka Foundation.

She is an alumnus of Delhi University and Harvard University’s John F Kennedy School of Government. Poonam is a regular television and print commentator in India and internationally.

Pritpal Marjara, Population Services International

Pritpal Marjara is the Senior Country Representative and Managing Director of Population Service International, a non-profit social marketing organisation having its head office in New Delhi, India. PSI implements social marketing programs in family planning, reproductive and maternal health, water and sanitation, non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis and HIV.

Pritpal has over 20 years of diverse professional experience in social marketing, behaviour change communication, research, health financing, and information technology.  Armed with a post graduate degree in computer science and information technology, Pritpal began his career as a software programmer.

His career in the development sector started at PSI where he managed complex health programs in diverse geographical, social and cultural setting in India. He had progressive and cross functional responsibilities, culminating the organisation leadership, within social marketing programs which involved the delivery of health products and services.

Ravi Anand, Abt Associates India

Dr. (Mrs ) Ravi Anand is a Public Health professional with 40 years of experience in the field of Maternal Health and Family Planning. She also has clinical experience of providing Maternal Health and Family Planning services to women through private and public sector. Dr. Anand has strong technical expertise in reproductive health, extensive program management experience, and is well-known in the fields of family planning (FP) and maternal health in India.

She specializes in capacity building and quality assurance in Family Planning & Maternal Health services in private and public sector. Currently she is working as Director- Technical & Operations in Abt Associates .

Kalpana Apte

Dr. Kalpana Apte is medical doctor with a PG Diploma in Hospital Management from University of Mumbai and Diploma in Executive Education, Harvard Kennedy, Government School, Boston, USA. Presently pursuing ‘Master of Public Health (MPH)’ in Human Sexuality, Institute of Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, San Francisco, CA, USA.

She is currently heading the Family Planning Association of India (FPA India), one of the largest civil society organization, working on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). Her experience includes planning sexual and reproductive health related services, monitoring quality of services, training various cadres of health care providers in sexual and reproductive health and related issues and programme implementation.

She is a member of various national and international advisory committees, task forces and expert groups, such as the International Advisory Group, Non Surgical Permanent Contraception, University of Portland, USA and Sexual Harassment Redressal Committee and Maternal Death Review Committee constituted by the Government of Maharashtra. She has several publications to her credit & has contributed many chapters for textbooks.

Vivek Malhotra, Population Health Services International

Has over 28 years of experience in Social Marketing of Contraceptives in India and Aboard. Has designed, evaluated and implemented many social marketing programs in India, Uganda , Kenya, Zambia, Srilanka,  Tanzania, Nepal and Sudan. He is well versed with the strategies of creating Contraceptive brands and strategies for expanding their usage. Has setup PHSI in 1999, which is now one of the largest Social Marketing  Programme delivering vide basket of Contraceptive and protecting over 4 million couples a year.
